Fifty-five years in the making, but I finally did it. I’ve published my fifth novel, and I have to thank you for supporting my dream.
I wanted to pursue writing in my teens but was discouraged by family and teachers. Maybe they were right at the time, but there’s also the possibility they weren’t. Had I started honing my writing skills years ago, I might have improved sooner. Regardless, discouraging a young, vulnerable mind from pursuing their interests baffled me then and still does now.
You can’t succeed unless you try, and failing is what builds character and allows growth. Looking back, I would prefer to have tried and failed than not tried at all.
Becoming the next Emily Brontë isn’t my goal. My aim is to give my longtime dream a go. Now I have and I would like to thank those who encouraged and supported me through this journey. Thank you for your kind words—and criticism. Without either, I couldn’t improve my writing or find the courage to persevere with my writing.
So, thank you! Thank you, thank you.
