M.L. Lexi’s Good Reads (or Listening)

as the crow flies

As the Crow Flies by Jeffrey Archer was published some twenty years ago, but it’s truly a timeless piece of work. The richness of every character as they are woven into a saga that spans decades is admirable.

The story of Charlie Trumper begins at the turn of the century in poor East End London and spans both world wars, the coronation of Queen Elizabeth (very British), the swinging 60’s, and crosses continents in his search for his fortune. Charlie goes from rags to riches, but not without paying his dues. There’s scandal, lots of drama and backstabbing, and the right dose of love and lasting friendships.

The book was a fun read, and one I couldn’t put down. I was thoroughly entertained.

FUN FACT: Archer got into writing to escape bankruptcy. Everyone needs motivation.
